Refund Policy

The Journal of Biological and Medical Innovations (JBMI) strives to provide a fair and transparent process for manuscript submission and publication. This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which a refund may be granted for manuscript submission or publication fees, as well as the procedures for requesting a refund.

1. Refund Eligibility:

  • Before Peer Review:

    • Conditions for Refund: Authors who wish to withdraw their manuscript before the peer review process begins are eligible for a full refund of the manuscript submission fee, minus any applicable administrative charges.
    • Procedure: To request a refund before peer review, authors must submit a formal written request to the editorial office, including the manuscript ID, title, and reason for withdrawal. Once the request is processed, the manuscript will be officially withdrawn from consideration, and a refund will be issued.
  • After Peer Review Begins:

    • No Refund: Once a manuscript has entered the peer review process, no refunds will be issued, as significant resources are committed to handling the manuscript at this stage (e.g., reviewer fees, editorial time).
  • After Acceptance but Before Publication:

    • Partial Refund Option: If an author decides to withdraw a manuscript after it has been accepted for publication but before it is published, a partial refund of the publication fee may be considered. However, this refund is subject to the decision of the editorial team, and any associated administrative costs will be deducted.
    • Conditions: Refunds will not be granted if the manuscript has already been processed for publication (e.g., copyediting, typesetting, or final approval). Authors should notify the editorial office promptly if they intend to withdraw the manuscript after acceptance.
  • After Publication:

    • No Refund: Once a manuscript has been published in any form (online or in print), no refunds will be issued, as the article is part of the published journal content and is available to the global readership.

2. Administrative Charges:

  • Processing Fee: If a manuscript is withdrawn before peer review, JBMI may charge a small administrative fee to cover the initial submission and processing costs (e.g., manuscript handling, initial editorial checks). The fee amount will be disclosed to the author before processing the refund.

  • Refund Processing Time: Refunds will be processed within 30 days of the request and will be issued through the same payment method used for the submission. Authors will receive a confirmation email once the refund has been processed.

3. Exception for Exceptional Circumstances:

  • Special Considerations: In cases of exceptional circumstances (e.g., medical emergencies, personal crises, or technical issues), the editorial office may consider providing a partial refund or exemption from publication fees. Authors requesting an exception must provide appropriate documentation to support their request.

  • Process for Exceptional Refunds: Authors must submit a detailed request for a refund, including the reason for the withdrawal or cancellation and any supporting documents. Each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the editorial team.

4. Non-Refundable Fees:

  • Submission Fees after Peer Review: Once a manuscript has entered the peer review process, the submission fee becomes non-refundable, as peer reviewers and editors are already engaged in evaluating the manuscript.

  • Publication Fees After Acceptance: After a manuscript has been accepted for publication and is in the production or publication phase, publication fees are non-refundable. This includes cases where the manuscript is withdrawn or rejected after acceptance for publication.

5. Communication and Transparency:

  • Clear Communication: Authors are encouraged to read the journal’s submission and publication guidelines carefully before submitting their manuscript to avoid any misunderstandings regarding fees and the refund process. Clear communication between the author and the editorial office will ensure a smooth process.

  • Withdrawal Confirmation: Authors will receive an official confirmation once their manuscript has been withdrawn and processed, along with information on any refunds due. If a refund is applicable, the author will also be informed about the refund status and processing time.
